Meanwhile, like lots of people, I'm still processing Aaron's death. Meaning that some large percentage of my time is still taken up with conversations about it. Or writing about it. There's lots I've written and abandoned because it doesn't feel or read right. Or seems too soon or too late or too judgemental or too whatever.
Wikileaks' ickily-timed attention-whoring half-revelation that Aaron may have been a source also pissed me off, though I didn't — and still don't — know what to do with it. Fortunately, it seems to have blown over.
Watching what seemed like hundreds of previews before Zero Dark Thirty tonight, I realized that Aaron's life would be the subject of books and movies. It's inevitable.
Didn't like Zero Dark Thirty, fwiw. It was twice as long as it needed to be. The torture scenes were barely necessary to the plot, and endless. Jessica Chastain is a good actress, but her character was as opaque (and relentless) as the Terminator. The whole thing, start to finish, even with the scenes at the compound, seemed flat to me. I'd give it two stars, tops. Bonus link.
